Independent Third Party Certification for PFP
Approved Document B (ADB) of the Building Regulations and the Guidance for the Regulatory Reform Order recommend the use of Independent Schemes of Third Party Certification and Accreditation.    No guidance is given however on how regulators or users should evaluate such schemes (see para 0.15 of the General Introduction to ADB).   The PFPF has prepared basic guidelines that should help in this task. Refurb may be factor in tower fire tragedy. Building experts question why fatal blaze was able to spread so quickly. The rapid spread of a blaze at a post-war block of flats, which left six people dead last week, could have been exacerbated by refurbishment work carried out just two years ago, experts claim.
