Formed in 1975, the Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) represents over 50 of the UK's major manufacturers and contractors, as well as regulatory and certification bodies, and overseas associates involved in structural steel fire protection and penetration sealing/fire stopping.

The ASFP is dedicated to the protection of life, property, the environment and our heritage from the ravages of fire. In order to achieve this aim, the Association promotes the continuous improvement of all aspects of the passive fire protection industry.

We provide independent certification, testing and inspection, technical and training services. BM TRADA Q-Mark is regarded as one of the most rigorous certification processes available for construction products.

BM TRADA offers independent, UKAS accredited testing and assessment services for doors, windows and fire-rated products. At its extensive testing facility, it undertakes fire resistance testing, and reaction to fire testing, as well as security, durability and weather testing, and acoustic products testing to British, European and International standards.

BUILDING RESEARCH ESTABLISHMENT

The BRE Group is an independent world leading research, consultancy, training, testing and certification organisation committed to delivering sustainability and innovation across the built environment and beyond.  BRE (incorporating LPCB) has over 50 years history of solving fire related problems for government, insurers and industry.  The breadth of knowledge, experience and understanding of fire safety engineering and fire science is used to resolve problems in many sectors of industry, including construction, transport, offshore, manufacturing, consumer products, insurance and process industry.  Extensive testing facilities include the UK’s largest fire calorimeter, state of the art equipment for fire resistance and reaction to fire testing and classification.  Certification, which addresses the concerns of the insurance industry, is offered for installers, products and management systems to satisfy the requirements of CE marking and various Loss Prevention Standards.

BRITISH WOODWORKING FEDERATION

The British Woodworking Federation (BWF) is the leading representative body for the woodworking and joinery manufacturing industry in the UK. It currently has over 500 members drawn from manufacturers, distributors and installers of timber doors, windows, conservatories, staircases, all forms of architectural joinery including shop fitting, timber frame buildings and engineered timber components, as well as suppliers to the industry.

The Federation has developed the BWF-CERTIFIRE Fire Door and Doorset Scheme, in partnership with Warrington Certification, the certification arm of Bodycote Warringtonfire. The scheme is designed to ensure that all fire door assemblies are properly installed and maintained. It provides the most rigorous and comprehensive third-party certification of fire door assemblies. The scheme provides for simple to understand identification of installed assemblies and ensures individual products are fully traceable..

DOOR & HARDWARE FEDERATION

The Door and Hardware Federation (DHF) represents virtually all of the key players in the industrial and commercial doors and shutters sector and the leading manufacturers of building hardware and architectural ironmongery.  It was formed in January 2004 following the amalgamation of two established trade associations, the Door and Shutter Manufacturers' Association and the Association of Building Hardware Manufacturers, which have taken the lead in creating British and European standards for members' products.

The DHF is dedicated to upholding its members' standards of technical competence, professional integrity and quality.  It ensures they meet the technical and commercial needs of customers, specifiers and end users.

The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers was founded in 1961 to promote standards in integrity and excellence in the business of architectural ironmongery. IFC CERTIFICATION LTD

IFC Certification is an internationally recognised provider of high quality, customer focused third-party certification for fire safety related products. The company assesses a client's products for compliance with its scheme documents and any relevant standards, and checks compliance with the Factory Production Control systems. These checks ensure the quality and traceability of the client's manufactured goods. Certification not only applies to manufacturers but also those companies that install fire products, such as doors and vision panels.
